きぎす

きぎす（雉）　名

This seems to be an older or variant name for the きじ, as attested in the 倭名類聚抄:「広雅云、雉...(和名木々須、一云木之)野鶏也」. The term shows up in one SIS poem but then begins to occur more frequently, particularly in Muromachi period poetry. In the 古今和歌六帖, two of the poems in the きじ group (718 and 719) have きぎす instead, so at least in the mid-Heian period they were regarded as the same.

消（け）　

This word seems to be a form of a verb (it works as 未然形 and 連用形) that has the same meaning as 消ゆ (vanish), but it's not completely clear what the difference is or even exactly where this け comes from. Takeoka treats the topic at length on p 1437-1438 of the 伊勢物語全評釈, noting that in a large majority of its uses, it is followed by the completion ぬ suffix.

ここち（心地）　名

The 岩波古語辞典 says this refers to the feeling one gets in the moment in response to what is happening. The 日本国語大辞典 notes that when it occurs in the form "modifier + 心地 + する", it usually means のような感じ.
