ふみつかはしける女のはゝの、「こひをしこひば」といへりけるが、年ごろへにければつかはしける
The mother of a girl he had been sending letters to said "If you love..." but then more than a year passed, so he sent this.
たねはあれど 逢事かたき いはのうへの 松にて年を ふるはかひなし
There is a seed, but meeting is as difficult as the rock, and like the pine I wait for no effect.

Notes
- こひをしこひば
- From KKS 512: たねしあらば岩にも松はおひにけり恋をしこひばあはざらめやは. "If you love her I can let you two meet."
- 年ごろへにければ
- The year (and more) passed without the mother permitting the meeting, apparently.
- たね
- The "seed" of love in the poet's heart.
- かたき
- A pivot on "difficult to meet" and "the hard stone."
- 松
- The usual pun on 待つ.
