Notes

思ひやる
"Send out"(遣る) the thoughts.
たぐふ

Analysis

People's thoughts can't be given shape as much as they may want them to. This is a poem of powerful truth (選釈). The poet feels that unless his body can visit his lover, not just his thoughts, he can't be fulfilled (全釈).
