In the Ise-shu this exchange comes after GSS 830-831. According to that, Tokihira was actually on a 5 day sutra listening visit in Nara, 興福寺. | |||
This is not a serious declaration of love, but simply a haikai-like poem sent to Ise who was known for her poetic skill (全釈). | |||

ひたすらに いとひはてぬる 物ならば よしのゝ山に ゆくゑしられじ
