This is a large collection of poems divided into 517 categories, perhaps intended to serve as a dictionary or handbook for poets. Roughly a quarter of the poems are from the Man'yoshu, and many others appear in the first three Imperial collections (especially the KKS and GSS). It was perhaps compiled in the latter half of the 10th century, but the compiler or compilers are unknown, and its relationship to the Imperial collections and other private collections is also debated. The SKTK version contains 4494 poems with 5 additional poems from alternate texts.
