One of the 36 poetic immortals.
An important figure in the transitional period between the “Six Sages” poetic era of Narihira and the KKS. He participated in a number of early poetry competitions, but his poetry seems to have lost favor in later ages. He is represented in the KKS by 19 poems, but by only 4 in the GSS, and a further 6 in later anthologies. He never attained higher than the junior-4th rank.

This is a small collection of 19 poems that seem to be drawn from the KKS and GSS, along with several more (5 in the base text) that are either of unknown origin or ascribed to other authors in other sources. It lacks some of the poems ascribed to him in the first two anthologies. Presumably it was compiled after Toshiyuki's death.
